About Bunny Search
Bunny Search is a free, independent app and web directory that helps shoppers instantly check whether a brand is cruelty-free and vegan — by aggregating data from nine certification organizations into one place.
Why Bunny Search exists
Most cruelty-free apps are published by a single certification body — they show you that body's list, and only that body's list. The problem is that "cruelty-free" doesn't have one universal definition. PETA accepts a signed statement of assurance. Leaping Bunny requires supplier monitoring across the entire supply chain. NATRUE certifies under a broader natural-cosmetics standard. Cruelty Free International runs the Leaping Bunny program internationally. Each one applies different criteria, and they often disagree about a given brand.
Bunny Search was built to solve that. It aggregates nine independent organizations and shows you what each one says about a brand on a single page. When the sources agree, you have high confidence. When they disagree, you can see exactly who says what and decide what standard matters to you.
Independent by design
Bunny Search is an independent project — not a commercial venture, not funded by certification bodies, retailers, or cosmetics brands. There is no advertising, no paywall, no premium tier, and no data resale.
This independence matters: it lets the app present every certification body's view neutrally, including PETA's, without favoring one over another.
What we don't do
- We don't certify brands ourselves — we surface what the established certification bodies have already said.
- We don't accept paid placements. No brand can pay to appear or to change its status.
- We don't sell user data. The app stores your favorites locally; the web directory doesn't require an account.
- We don't claim to be exhaustive. If a brand isn't in any of the nine source lists, it shows as "status unknown" — which doesn't necessarily mean it tests on animals.
How we keep the data fresh
Bunny Search re-syncs from each certification body's published list periodically. The original lists are maintained by those organizations; we mirror and structure their data so you can search across all of them at once. Every brand page links the source so you can verify any individual entry. See the full sources page for details on each organization.
